POSITION SUMMARY The Teacher Aide plays a vital role in supporting a thriving K-8 school community. We are seeking a dedicated, flexible, and caring individual who is committed to helping students grow academically and socially. The ideal candidate takes direction well, demonstrates patience and professionalism, and maintains a positive, encouraging presence in all school settings. This position works under the direct supervision of the Teaching Principal and supports the classroom teacher with instructional tasks, student supervision, behavioral support, and campus operations. QUALIFICATIONS Education & ExperienceAssociate's or undergraduate degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent requiredPrior experience in a school, childcare, or youth-serving setting preferredCurrent CPR and First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire) Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret school policies, student behavioral plans, and classroom proceduresClear and professional verbal and written communication skillsStrong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage time effectivelyCollaborative team player who supports teacher-led instruction without undermining classroom authorityPatience, reliability, and a consistent, fair approach to student interactionsAbility to maintain confidentiality regarding student information ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following list is representative and not intended to be exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned by the Teaching Principal or classroom teacher. Classroom SupportAssist the classroom teacher with instructional preparation, including setting up materials, stations, and suppliesSupport students with curriculum, guided reading, and one-on-one or small-group tutoringGrade assignments, record results, and assist with classroom organization as directedHelp maintain an orderly classroom environment, including light cleaning and tidyingAssist with classroom displays, bulletin boards, and showcasing student workPerform clerical tasks such as sorting, filing, cutting, and copying Student SupervisionSupervise students before and after school during arrival and dismissal (escort students safely to and from the gate)Monitor students during recess, lunch, and any extended care periodsMaintain awareness of student allergies, health considerations, and safety protocols at all timesAssist with supervision during field trips, school events, and extracurricular activities as neededProvide substitute classroom coverage for grades K-8 when called upon Student Support & School CommunityModel and consistently enforce school expectations using a fair, calm, and caring approachSupport academic and behavioral intervention plans under teacher and principal directionBuild positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and staffCommunicate clearly and promptly with staff using walkie-talkies or other school communication systemsAdhere to all school policies, dress code, and professional conduct standardsSupport a positive school culture through active participation in school events and a constructive attitude PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires the ability to perform the following on a regular basis:Stand, walk, and remain physically active for extended periods throughout the school daySupervise students in both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditionsLift and carry classroom materials and supplies (up to approximately 30 lbs.)Bend, reach, kneel, and move throughout classrooms, playground areas, and campusMaintain sustained alertness and attentiveness during all supervision dutiesSpeak clearly into communication devices as needed WORK ENVIRONMENT This is an active, dynamic role in a K-8 school setting. The Teacher Aide will work across multiple environments, classrooms, outdoor spaces, and common areas, and must adapt to the fast-paced nature of a school day. Regular, positive, and professional interaction with students, staff, and families is central to this role.
