SPP Engineer
Job Description Sirius Talent is seeking an SPP - Storm Protection Plan Engineer to support major utility infrastructure and storm hardening initiatives in Tampa, FL. This position will focus on distribution protection coordination, FLISR analysis, feeder hardening, undergrounding projects, and distribution design support within a large-scale utility environment. Position Details Location: Tampa, FL 33619 Schedule: 100% Onsite | 5 Days per Week Assignment Type: Temporary Contract Assignment Pay Rate: $62.07/hr Key Responsibilities • Coordinate circuit protection activities across Storm Protection Plan (SPP) distribution programs • Perform coordination reviews, fusing analysis, and corrective action support for impacted circuits • Lead and review FLISR (Fault Location Isolation Service Restoration) analysis and device settings • Review load transfer and phase change requests for operational feasibility • Support distribution design initiatives including:Feeder HardeningLateral UndergroundingDistribution Wood Pole Replacement • Review and approve contractor designs to ensure compliance with NESC and utility standards • Attend design meetings and support contractor oversight activities • Assist with engineering documentation, standards, and best practice development • Troubleshoot and support distribution power system reliability initiatives Required Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited university • Minimum 18 months of related engineering experience • Utility, power distribution, or distribution design engineering experience • Ability to read and interpret one-lines, schematics, and distribution maps • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project coordination skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related engineering systems • Valid Florida Driver's License Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering • Professional Engineer (PE) License • 4+ years of utility engineering experience • Experience with:System Protection & CoordinationFLISR AnalysisDistribution DesignFeeder Hardening or Undergrounding Projects Work Environment • Combination of indoor and outdoor work environments • 40-hour work week with occasional overtime • Physical requirements include sitting, standing/walking, driving, and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
