The team's animal collection consists of a variety of birds amongst three areas, comprised of macaws, Amazon Parrots, pigeons, cockatoos, Grey Parrots, African fish eagle, Subarctic Great-horned owl, Spectacled Owl, Red-tailed Hawk, Harris's Hawk, Turkey Vulture, Peregrine Falcon, East African Crowned-crane, Kookaburra, Wreathed Hornbills, Eurasian Eagle Owls, Guinea Fowl, and Southern Ground Hornbills.

The Animal Care Technician provides husbandry and animal care to laboratory animals (rodents, rabbits, dogs, pigs, and other animals as needed) in conventional, immunocompromised, and BSLII laboratory areas.

An American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) certification at the Certified Lab Animal Technician LATG level required. Coordinate with faculty, research staff, the facility veterinarian, and others to implement program policies and facility SOPS. Maintain the laboratory animal facility including facility space, utilities, animal husbandry, environmental enrichment, technical support, and daily operations.

Adjacent to the Companion Animal Clinic is the Equine and Bovine Center, which houses large animal teaching facilities and small herds of cattle and horses and the Diagnostic Pathology Center, a full-service pathology facility providing postmortem examinations and biopsy services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED Certification by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science at the level of Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician may be substituted for the General Experience.

For Animal Care Attendants working primarily with the Zoological Companion Animal (ZCAM) program, exotic animal handling skills are required. Exotic animal handling skills.

The Associate Animal Care Technician is an entry-level position that builds skills in providing husbandry and care to a variety of laboratory animals including but not limited to rodents, rabbits, sheep, swine, horses, cows, and poultry in the conventional, barrier, and barn housing.
