The Criminal Justice Faculty position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position in the Criminal Justice Department. Practical experience in the field of Criminal Justice (part-time experience will be pro-rated.

A Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Administration, Public Administration, Police Science, or a closely-related field; Or Juris Doctorate degree. Certified NYS General Topics Police Instructor and specialty instructor with the Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Minimum: at the time of appointment, 1) a PhD in criminal justice/criminology or a closely related social science discipline, 2) a Juris Doctorate (JD) and a Master’s degree in criminal justice/criminology or a closely related social science discipline, or 3) a JD and demonstrated relevant experience in criminal justice/criminology.

Courses taught may include: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Survey of Criminology, Social Science Research Methods, Ethics in Criminal Justice, the Criminal Justice Senior Capstone, and/or other courses in Criminal Justice that fit the candidate’s expertise.

Services are trauma-informed and culturally responsive, delivered by a doctoral-level forensic psychologist trained to work specifically with individuals in the justice system. The vision of the TJ: HLP is to provide restorative, trauma-informed, and evidence-based mental health services to individuals and their families to increase well-being and community resiliency and improve the process of desistance from criminal behavior.

IMT participants interact with homeless services, criminal justice, and behavioral health service systems. Advocate and liaise for participants within the criminal justice and shelter system.

Associates of Arts degree with major course work in Business Management, Police Administration, Criminal Justice or related field is desirable. Do you possess the equivalent to an Associate Degree with major course work in Business Management, Police Administration, Criminal Justice or related field.

Duties include screening, intake assessment, treatment planning, record keeping, substance use education, case management, crisis intervention, discharge planning, referral of appropriate offenders, individual/family/group counseling, educational sessions, and liaison duties between the criminal justice system and substance use disorder treatment agencies.

As the Part-Time Criminal Justice Instructor , you will be committed to facilitating learning using the most up to date pedagogy, technology, and discipline specific knowledge. The position of Criminal Justice Instructor is a Pooled Position and applications will be reviewed on an ongoing, as-needed basis.

Sixty college units with an emphasis on criminal justice, administration of justice, or related field is desirable. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a thorough background check including Live Scan fingerprinting Department of Justice (DOJ) and/or the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), background investigation (including polygraph examination), a pre-employment medical evaluation (including a drug screen), and psychological evaluation.

Our areas of expertise include behavioral health, mental health policy and services, substance use disorders, workforce development, homelessness, housing and employment programs, trauma-informed care, criminal justice, women and children, veterans, health care reform, and population health management.

Must be able to pass the Washington State Criminal Justice Basic Law Enforcement Training Course. Knowledge of adult and juvenile judicial procedures and the criminal justice system and laws of arrest, search, and seizure.

Part-Time Jumpstart Criminal Justice Instructor. A JD will be considered with appropriate experience in criminal justice. At least 5 years of experience working directly for a criminal justice agency.

The preferred candidate will currently be certified by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as a Law Enforcement Officer. The selected candidate must be in possession of a valid Law Enforcement Certification from the Department of Criminal Justice Service.
