The Chief Medical Physicist is responsible to ensure that the Quality Assurance program in Radiation Oncology is commensurate with ACR standards, state regulations and professional guidelines. The position supervises 5.25 FTE Medical Physicists, responsible for maintaining and supporting present clinical programs and implementing new/emerging technology in 4 clinical locations. The Upstate Cancer Center at Auburn will be an additional clinical responsibility for this title.

The Chief Physicist directs the commissioning of new equipment and calibration of radiation producing machines and dosimetry equipment, the performing of machine and patient-specific quality assurance, external beam and treatment planning tasks, and the direct involvement with special procedures. The Chief Physicist is also responsible to develop curriculum and oversee instruction in the Radiation Oncology Medical Residency program related to medical physics. Additionally, this role is responsible for reporting of, and responses to, adverse events in Radiation Oncology, and reducing the risks of adverse events by ongoing analysis of reported and potential adverse events and near misses.

Monday - Friday; 8:00-4:30
