The Assistive Technology Specialist is responsible for ensuring access and accommodations, as required under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 through the use of specialized hardware and software.

Maintains certifications and licenses; obtaining all required continuing education annually to assure no lapse in coverage; stays abreast of funding requirements and technological advances within the Rehab Technology industry What you need to succeed: Current Assistive Technology Professional certification required (unless joining our ATP development program)For Development program candidates: consideration is given to those with relevant clinical or academic backgrounds.

The Assistive Technology Professional designs custom assistive technology to meet the mobility objectives of our customers and their clinicians, and plays a pivotal role in improving the quality of life of the individuals we serve by providing mobility, independence and positioning.

Proficient in basic computer operations including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook email, Office 365, Teams and calendar applications. Minimum of two years’ experience in Respiratory Therapy encompassing homecare and hospital experience, with sleep laboratory experience a plus.

The CTE Technology Coordinator serves as the frontline contact for students and faculty on all technology related issues. The Technology Coordinator operates under the guidance of the CTE Director.

TRAINING: Job training for an information technology specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.
