Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings, locker rooms and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition.

The purpose of the Custodian position is to clean and maintain terminal facilities with a friendly demeanor and an eye for detail to enhance the guest experience and meet "opening day fresh" standards to ensure a safe and clean environment.

Prior school custodian experience preferred. JOB TITLE: Custodian. Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF Pension). Prior school custodian experience preferred. Perform such other appropriate duties as may be assigned by the Custodial Supervisor.

A custodian may be assigned and paid out of classification for duties of a Mailroom/Shipping & Receiving Clerk or Groundskeeper, when directed by their supervisor and with appropriate training.

Tools/Equipment Used: Buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed eater. The Custodian (Housekeeper) is responsible for daily general janitorial cleaning of all common areas and other side-work in assigned work areas. The Custodian (Housekeeper) will interact with members and their requests for janitorial services in a pleasant manner.

Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor or Residence Hall Manager, the Sr. Custodian performs duties in accordance with established standards and instruction, for University owned Residence Halls, Apartments and Dining Facilities.

The Custodian Supervisor must assist and provide support to Custodians and Temporary employees, have an in-depth knowledge of proper chemical handling, floor care, and general cleaning techniques.

Assists the Head Custodian in monitoring and performing all custodial activities. In the absence of the Head Custodian, will coordinate the work of other custodial staff. Reports necessary repairs and safety concerns to Head Custodian.

Operates weed trimmer, hedge trimmer, lawn mower, etc. x] Other: Push and pull brooms, vacuums, buffers, weed trimmer, cleaning carts; must bend, stoop, and crawl. Assists in securing school building by locking doors and windows and turning on the security alarm.

Under close supervision the Custodian perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks and is responsible for minor maintenance and storage of equipment. Cleans venetian, blinds, radiators, grills, intake and exhaust vents, light fixtures, elevator interiors, tracks and front, stainless steel counters, chairs and table.
