The Alliance of Crops, Soils, and Environmental Science Societies (ACSESS) is seeking a highly skilled, experienced Director of Accounting and Finance to lead the financial operations of a diversified non-profit organization.

The Finance and Accounting Director will be responsible for the oversight, direction, and management of the Accounting Department and the Financial Planning and Analysis unit.

This role involves managing the general accounting functions and associated complexities of three professional societies – the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and the Soil Science Society of America – along with their related, charitable entity, Agronomy Science Foundation.

The Finance and Accounting Director will also work closely with other members of the Administrative team. The Finance and Accounting Director will report to FIRE’s Chief Operating Officer and manage FIRE’s Senior Accountant to implement the financial vision for the organization.

The Director of Finance and Administration will supervise the Senior Manager of Finance and Administration, the Operations Manager, as well as the accounting contractors they work with.

The Director of Finance & Controller is responsible for the College’s accounting practices and policies, fiscal controls, maintenance of fiscal records and assists with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and reports and financial analyses.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Accounting and Finance will be responsible for the direct management of accounting operations, financial and regulatory reporting functions within the organization, including internal controls and risk management; technical research and analysis; the procure-to-pay cycle; compliance with contractual obligations and government regulations; and oversee the payroll, time & attendance, employer taxes and benefits cost accounting.

The Director - Strategic Finance will identify, explore and analyze corporate opportunities that align with our strengths, and some that fall outside of our current core focus, and support our strategic objectives.

The Role: Director of Finance and Administration. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the Lead Pastor and having close working relationships with key ministry and administrative leaders and the Board of Trustees, with overall responsibility for business administration, finance & human resources.

The Director manages the finance team, providing planning and oversight for all fiscal functions of the agency including accounting, grants administration and management, and budgeting.

This person will oversee operations of the accounting department, leading a team of 30 employees, reporting to the Vice President of Accounting and Finance.

Oversee the accounting/finance staff and operations of the accounting department including the design of an organizational structure and determination of staffing levels adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.

The Director of Finance is responsible for supervising the accounting staff; managing and coordinating with outsourced consultants; preparing monthly/quarterly/annual financial reporting packages; managing staff onboarding, training, deployment, and performance; providing financial statement analysis, and audit support; and coordinating the finance function across all departments.

As the Director, Finance and Administration you will report to the President & CEO and serve as an organizational leader in developing, managing, and executing Urban League of Essex County’s financial, operational, and HR strategy during a time of organization growth and expansion.

Success in the role of Director of Finance will require a deep commitment to anti-racist, feminist/womanist/queer, and youth development work. This role will report to the COO. The Director of Finance will supervise the Accountant and Finance Development Manager.
