The unit cares for pre and postoperative neurosurgical, neuro-medicine and stroke patients with complex needs using a team approach with nurses, charge nurse and patient care techs.

The Operating Room Nurse Educator will work at a 300+ bed facility known for both their acute care hospital and rehab center. The Clinical Nurse Educator of Perioperative Surgical Services will work alongside Operating Room, PreOperative, PACU, and Sterile Processing department directors, managers, staff, physicians, and technicians.

Every graduate nurse is also automatically enrolled in the hospital based Nurse Residency program which incorporates graduate nurses from across the organization. Each graduate nurse will have dedicated preceptors to guide them through the process of orientation, as well as a committed unit based nurse educator and manager.

This program along with classroom instruction, clinical experiences and simulation provide a blended approach to learning designed to enhance the knowledge and growth of each new nurse. Graduate nurse orientation includes a variety of experiential learning modalities which provide opportunities for assimilation and application of clinical theory and concepts to bedside practice.

Oversee curriculum development and planning for the Nurse Residency Transition to Practice program for the new graduate nurse. Onboard all nursing associates including the following job codes: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Patient Care Technician, Student Nursing Associate, Transitional Nursing Resident, Monitor Tech, Unit Ambassador, and Companion.

New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license or Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) required. The Community Nurse Educator will have a strong understanding of the socio-cultural factors that contribute to health disparities, with a specific focus on African-American faith-based communities.
