  • Based in the Western Region and reporting to the Senior Vice President, North America Full Service Hotels, the VP will be responsible for the development of Marriott Hotels, Westin Hotels, Renaissance Hotels, Le Meridien Hotels, Ritz Carlton Hotels, St\.
  • Regis Hotels, JW Marriott Hotels, Bvlgari Hotels and Resorts, Gaylord Hotels and Resorts, The Luxury Collection Hotels, Autograph Collection Hotels, W Hotels, Tribute Portfolio Hotels, Delta Hotels, and Sheraton Hotels, with a focus on the region s to\-be\-created Central Territory \(14\-15 states, including Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois
  • The VP, along with a counterpart VP, will direct the development strategies for the Central Territory and structure deals that bring together local needs and opportunities while satisfying Marriott s mid\- to long\-term business model\.
  • The VP identifies and pursues new business opportunities and coordinates a multidisciplinary team involved in the review, approval and finalization of contracts for new hotels\.
  • Success in the position demands a driving focus on creation of shareholder value and earnings, as well as a passion to champion new business opportunities that build brand equity and help drive customer preference\.
  • + Collaborate with the SVP on the development strategy for the Territory\.
  • + Maintain and further develop a strong network of contacts in the local hotel and real estate investment sector\.
  • + Identify, initiate, and assess potential owners, investors, developers and branding opportunities\.
  • + Review and analyze potential hotel conversions, adaptive re\-use, and new\-build opportunities for affiliation with any of Marriott s brand systems\.
  • + Develop the appropriate business relationships with potential owners and partners, in order to build loyalty and preference for our company and brands\.
  • + Coordinate all aspects of the development process internal to Marriott International, including presentations, site inspections, market feasibility studies and projections, valuations, legal contract negotiations and presenting the opportunity for approval by the appropriate Marriott committees\.
  • + Lead negotiations of management agreements, purchase, joint venture, franchise or other agreements with owners and/or their representatives\.
  • Ensure that agreement terms and conditions are acceptable to Marriott operating and staff executives\.
  • + Work with Marriott's Treasury and Project Finance Departments to maximize returns on Marriott International investment in hotel projects\.
  • + As needed, assist owners and developers in identifying financing for hotel acquisition or construction\.
  • + As required, attend public hearings and meetings with regulatory agency officials to secure site plan, engineering and other approvals necessary for the project's successful development\.
  • + Perform other duties as appropriate\.

  • + Ten year s real estate development or hotel industry experience with at least five years of hotel development or related experience\.

  • + A contact base in the regional hotel investment and development sector\.
  • + Understanding of the local hotel and investment market\.
  • Familiarity with local capital markets is a plus\.
  • + Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects on short timetables and manage staff resources efficiently and successfully\.
