  • Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Counselor Education (Ed. D. or Ph. D.) with an emphasis in clinical mental health or a closely related field (CACREP programs preferred).

  • Knowledge and experience with community/school collaborations and public engagement activities.

  • About the Job Position Overview: The Department of Educational Psychology seeks individuals to contribute teaching, clinical supervision, research, and service in the area of Counselor Education.
  • This is a full-time one-year (possibly renewable) non-tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 29, 2021.
  • We are motivated to identify and recruit an individual that can contribute to a robust masters-level training program in school and clinical mental health counseling.
  • While a record of research and scholarship is essential, priority is given to individuals who can contribute to the masters-level teaching and program development, including advising students and supervising practicum and internship activities.
  • Specific areas of specialization are open, however, we encourage those with interests in clinical mental health counseling to apply.
  • Additional interests in school counseling are also valued, but not essential.
  • The Counselor Education Program (formerly Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology program) has a long-standing tradition of excellence in preparation at the masters' degree in school counseling and clinical mental health counseling.

  • Job Responsibilities: Teaching (80%): Teach 15-18 graduate-level foundation, skill-development, and supervision courses each semester on topics such as introductory courses in clinical mental health and counseling theories, as well as more advanced courses in the program such as diagnosis, diversity, and internship supervision
  • Student support duties as assigned, including but not limited to, assistance with licensure preparation, masters-level student mentorship, and guidance on counseling career paths.
  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum and program development by providing expertise, oversight and coordination.
  • Service (20%): Collaborating with program department and college administrative staff to support degree, licensure/credential, and accreditation processes.
  • Contributing to preparation for institutional and external approval/accreditation review processes.
  • Maintaining and actively participating in national, local, and state professional counseling associations to help further professional development, support professional licensure, and support curricular development in the program.
  • Other Position Related Responsibilities include:Participating in Counselor Education faculty meetings, department meetings, and other department or collegiate committees as assigned, including service on internal committees or task forces, and making presentations to external constituencies.
