  • Acting on own initiative, the Sales Finance Manager – Transcendent leads the financial engagement of the fine wine sales team to help achieve financial goals and objectives.
  • The Sales Finance Manager supports the annual planning cycle for the sales portfolio, including annual plan and latest estimates, and completes the monthly accounting close process and subsequent financial reporting.
  • The Sales Finance Manager completes a comprehensive monthly business review process with the fine wine sales team, including identification and mitigation of risks and opportunities.
  • This position also reviews and approves pricing changes in alignment with brand pricing guidelines and company objectives.
  • Manages the annual planning process for fine wine sales divisions and National On Premise, including loading and validating calendarization of sales volume, pricing, revenue, cogs, expenses and margins; manages latest estimate process as necessary
  • Prepares and reviews monthly business results with sales managers including financial statements, depletion trends and distributor inventory levels; ensures sales managers understand business results and potential risks and opportunities
  • Conducts month end close and selling expense accrual process, including preparing financial journal entries and coordinating with sales management for accrual analysis
  • Reviews and approves pricing changes in alignment with brand pricing guidelines, local market considerations and company objectives
  • Analyzes market data to understand local market conditions, supporting informed pricing decisions and volume forecasts
  • Reviews and approves promotional spending proposals (spend requests) to ensure effectiveness of spend and consistency with company objectives, including coupons, distributor programming, and other promotional activities; conducts post-promotion analysis to determine effectiveness of promotional programs.
  • Investigates and corrects anomalies or inaccuracies in financial data or results; facilitates ad hoc analysis as necessary
  • Maintains relationships and acts as a financial partner with sales managers
  • Maintains relationships with various other functional management teams to ensure quality deliverables and information flow, including accounting, FP&A, Business Performance Management, Accounting, HR, the Chain Team, and Marketing
  • Serves as team expert on fine wine sales portfolio, supporting understanding of business performance, promotional strategies, and expense needs

  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; business, finance, accounting or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in accounting or financial management
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing programs, the three-tier distribution network, and shipment, depletion and scan data reporting and analysis
  • Expert computer skills are required, with ability to report and analyze multi-dimensional data and complex information
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills, analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Must be able to occasionally travel to attend sales meeting and/or market visits.
