- Support the Multi-Physics Computations (MPC) section of the Advanced Propulsion and Power Department in the Transportation and Power Systems Division (TAPS) Perform multi-physics and multi-scale simulations applied to internal combustion engine (ICE) modeling, by leveraging computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques, high-performance computing (HPC) resources, and by using and developing in-house and commercial CFD codes.
- Perform high-fidelity CFD simulations of complex physical processes in internal combustion engines (ICEs), such as fuel injection, combustion, heat transfer, etc.
- Improve, develop, and implement sub-models necessary to enable predictive ICE simulations, specifically for low-carbon fuels (e.g., H2), when using commercial or open-source CFD software (e.g., CONVERGE or similar).
- Position Requirements Ph. D. in mechanical/aerospace/energy engineering, applied mathematics, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of ICE modeling using CFD software (commercial or open-source).
