  • The Program Specialist for Student Support Services will work in collaboration with the Program Manager Student Support Services and campus staff to implement and monitor special education and Section 504 dyslexia programming in grades K-12, as well as supporting the homebound program, to include students with nursing services.
  • The incumbent will provide strong leadership in promoting the District's and department's vision of providing inclusive services for students served with special education and 504 services.
  • Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Program Support Observe classrooms, model, coach and provide staff development on current research and/or evidence-based methodologies for students with reading difficulties and/or dyslexia
  • Support campus in developing and implementing quality services for students with reading difficulties and/or dyslexia
  • Develop curriculum modifications and model differentiated instructional strategies for campus and other district staff
  • Promote the District's vision of implementing inclusive services, including utilizing evidence-based supports to maintain students in their least restrictive environments, utilize high-quality instruction, and monitor the students' outcomes in an effort to support a transition to a lesser restrictive environment as appropriate when students are served in special education settings.
  • Assist in writing dyslexia curriculum
  • Administrative Attend and facilitate Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings to provide guidance to the campus staff, parents and students
  • Attend and facilitate Section 504 meetings to provide guidance to the campus staff, parents and students
  • Serve as a resource to administration in the implementation of special education and Section 504 services for students with reading difficulties and/or dyslexia
  • Analyze and utilize dyslexia campus data to develop campus support plan
  • Assist Program Manager, Student Support Services with instructional materials and equipment inventoried to the campus
  • Assist with developing and delivering professional development for district and campus staff, as well as monitor and support the implementation of professional development activities
  • Keep accurate and complete records including Success Ed, Student Monitoring forms and Status Reports for identified students receiving Sped/504 services.
  • Instructional Leadership Participate with teachers, parent(s), campus administrators and district Program Manager in determining Sped/504 and Dyslexia programming and/or reading support
  • Assist Program Manager, Student Support Services with instructional materials and equipment inventoried to the Campus
  • Support the District and department goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned
