Work is performed under the general direction of a dispatch supervisor, police Captain and the Chief or Police.
Police & Fire 911 Dispatcher
Potential employees will be required to operate radios, multi-line telephone and E911 system, Ohio LEADS terminals and other electronic communications equipment; gathers emergency and non-emergency related information; determines actions, assists callers, and dispatches appropriate responses; maintains logs and records; provides information to service units and agencies.
Persons working in this classification provide dispatch and communications operations for law enforcement and emergency service agencies in Austintown, North Jackson, Lake Milton and Craig Beach.
Responsibilities include answering emergency and non-emergency calls from the public; dispatching the proper agencies in response to those calls and aiding in coordinating the agencies in accomplishing their official duties.
The Austintown Police Department is establishing an eligibility list for the position of full-time dispatcher.
Employees in this position normally work variable shifts that cover a 24 hour period.
