- B.A. or B.S. in regional or community planning, environmental science, rural and urban design, landscape architecture, land use planning, geography, or related planning field.
- The Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG) Planner performs technical and professional work by providing land use planning guidance, comprehensive planning analysis, and sustainable and resiliency planning assistance in coordination with and at the direction of the Executive Director and staff.
- The Planner provides technical assistance, research, and communications on topics including, but not limited to, community development, direct community assistance, land use planning and sustainability/resiliency and planning for the Midcoast region (Brunswick north to Belfast).
- Support may include but is not limited to, acting as a liaison between the Maine Planning Assistance Program and the municipality; reviewing and editing draft documents; and/or attending meetings to provide technical assistance and support to municipal comp.
- The planner will assist communities in climate resiliency-related issues, with a focus on coastal resilience, stormwater management, shellfish management and coastal hazards mitigation.
