- The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner functions as a collaborating partner of the Neonatologists and Pediatricians in directing and managing the patient care needs of all newborns within the assigned hospital.
- The NNP has responsibility for the assessment and management of newborn patients including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and daily implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care.
- The NNP is responsible for participating in the continuing education and staff development within the Birth Center.
- Current Certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner through the National Certification Corporation (NCC)
- The work of NNP consistently exercises a high degree of discretion and independent judgment in analyzing, interpreting, and making inferences from comprehensive physical assessment of the newborn/infant, as well as from laboratory, radiographic, and clinical reports
