Responsibilities:
Responsibilities Under the direction of the Manager of Education the Nurse Educator will primarily serve as an Educator but may include being a Mentor Preceptor Resource and Facilitator. These roles will include education and training in varying degrees and will include responsibility for provision of operational support for the department and organization. Education and training will include but are not limited to the following: Orientation Continuing Education Units In-services Rounding Process Training Products Training Customer Service Compliance Competencies Auditing etc. The Nurse Educator will comply with Education and Training as recognized by the Board of Nursing other governing boards and institutions the organizations policies and procedures Federal and State Guidelines Educational Department Philosophy etc. The Nurse Educator will primarily educate nursing employees but will include other hospital employees including physicians and the community as deemed necessary. Included in the Nurse Educator's responsibilities are varied projects as allocated by the manager but not limited to as follows: coordination of clinical placements for Schools of Nursing symposiums forums assessments research data collection educational assistance with other departments etc. An intricate part of the Nurse Educator's position includes accurate and efficient assessment planning implementation and evaluation of programs and projects as directed by the Manager. The Nurse Educator must research prior to educating and be familiar with NPSGs SCIP Core Measures evidenced-based practice etc. and must be evident in their practice. The expectation of the Nurse Educator is to deliver accurate and useful information that is pertinent to the needs of those being educated and the organization. The ability to work independently and with others is essential in contributing to the department as a place of positive and creative working environment conducive to learning educating sharing of relevant information and change towards excellence. The Educator will act as an educational and clinical resource to the Nurse Managers their staff and other hospital employees. The Nurse Educator will assist in assessment planning coordinating implementing and evaluating programs to meet needs of the staff and the organization as deemed by the Manager. Essential to the Nurse Educator's position includes appropriate and timely communication the ability to build and maintain respectful and trusting relationships sharing of pertinent information and possessing team spirit that is shared towards the vision of the department and organizational excellence. The Nurse Educator must consistently apply at every aspect of their job performance the Dignity Mission and Core Values that include Dignity Collaboration Justice Stewardship and Excellence.<ul><li>Assists with the coordination of all nursing inservices and CE classes, including, room set up, vendor payment, catering, setup and clean up.</li><li>Coordinates the Basic Life Support program, including scheduling of classes, upkeep of instructor and course files, issuance of CPR cards and ensuring AHA guidelines are followed in reference to all documentation kept onsite.</li><li>Provides administrative support to the department, including maintenance of files, ordering of supplies, preparation of minutes and accurate reports.</li><li>Assists with coordination of the Schools of Nursing programs, including correspondence with instructors and nurse managers related to preceptors and unit assignments, preparation of orientation materials.</li><li>Schedules and coordinates an 8 hour orientation program for all new CNAs in the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) that meets all regulatory requirements.</li><li>Completes an Orientation Skills Return Demonstration Checklist on all new CNAs to demonstrate competency to perform direct patient care.</li><li>Schedules and delivers at least 24 hours of CAN in-service education annually.</li><li>Evaluates in-service training to develop programs that enhance CNA patient care skills, and address identified knowledge deficits, special needs of residents and areas of deficiency from state survey.</li><li>Evaluates learner performance by a variety of methods, such as posttest, feedback from supervisors on clinical performance, return demonstration, observation and/or learner self evaluations.</li><li>Maintains files and records as required by the Board of Registered Nursing and the Department of Health Services for all continuing education classes provided by the facility.</li><li>Participates in the SNF Quality Assurance meetings, Infection Control Committee and Safety Committee.</li><li>Works effectively with the Nurse Managers in developing unit based programs.</li><li>Assists in developing and implementing Standards of Care.</li><li>Incorporates quality assurance findings in program planning.</li><li>Utilizes current literature supported content in educational programs and clinical based teaching.</li><li>Determines and meets deadlines for completion of project.</li><li>When requested, participates in and/or manages house wide projects effectively.</li><li>Fosters a spirit of teamwork by offering to assist other members of department as needed; e.g., coverage, class setup, proofing.</li><li>Discusses with Director: program plans including goals, resources and methods of implementation, possible constraints and other special considerations prior to program development.</li><li>Informs Director of progress, particularly as problems arise and seeks direction as needed.</li></ul>$5,000 Sign On Bonus available for new hires. Qualifications:
Minimum Requirement:<ul><li>Five years progressive experience in area of Surgical Services including: needs assessment coordination planning implementation teaching and evaluation</li><li>Experience in management of projects and adult learners to include: curriculum development evaluation of personnel and interpretation and utilization of evidence based practice</li><li>Three years experience working as a perioperative registered nurse</li><li>Master's degree in Nursing</li><li>RN:CA; CNOR; BLS-CPR; ACLS</li></ul>
