- We are a level IV NICU – the highest level of NICU designation – and our NNP’s provide care at both Children’s Mercy and 8 other level 2 and 3 NICU’s in the metropolitan area.
- We have a comprehensive new grad program designed to help with the transition from student NNP to Novice NNP that includes a tailored approach to an NNP’s specific needs, professional development classes with other APRNs, and opportunities for one-on-one mentorship both within and outside our department
- The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) provides expert family-centered and comprehensive health care services to the neonatal patient population (both) in the NICU at Children’s Mercy Adele Hall ?
- The NNP obtains a complete health history, performs physical examinations, formulates a plan of care, orders and interprets laboratory and imaging studies, and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- The NNP incorporates best current evidence for delivery of optimal health care that addresses the physiologic, psychosocial, and developmental needs of the patients and families within the framework of the collaborative practice agreement.
