The Maintenance Custodian worker will perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning of all assigned common areas, offices, public spaces, and grounds. Operates and uses various types of cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, dusters, buffing, waxing machines, etc.

In addition, the person must be able to handle physical labor involved with moving furniture and equipment, cleaning high traffic common areas, preparing for and cleaning up after large events, snow removal, and dispersing deliveries in a very active school building.

Cleans floors, hallways and common areas including vacuuming, buffing, and waxing floors. Complete all scheduled custodial duties in accordance with custodian cleaning checklist.

This includes but is not limited to: floor care (mopping, sweeping, buffing, stripping and waxing), cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash, separating recyclables, emptying garbage, wiping windows and walls, and cleaning stairways.

Responsible for exterior snow and ice removal as well as upkeep of the grounds. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:At least one year of maintenance & cleaning experience in a large residential or Program setting.

Operation of various facilities maintenance equipment; including but not limited to: steam cleaner, buffing machine, grass cutter, power tools, etc. Perform vehicle maintenance functions and mechanical repairs for vehicles; including but not limited to: tune-ups, fluid checks and changes, tire repairs and replacements, filter checks and changes, cleaning vehicles and auto body work (mechanical and cosmetic.

Use chemical cleaners and power equipment such as floor buffing and stripping machines properly to avoid harming floors and fixtures. Maintains the cleanliness of the external areas surrounding ground of the facility including the removal of snow and debris.

Duties may include tending furnace and boiler, performing routine maintenance activities, providing handyman services within the residences as needed, notifying management of the need for repairs, and cleaning snow and debris from sidewalks.
