  • Eatons Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Lead Technician-Materials Development Lab to join our team.
  • This position is based at our Franksville, WI location.
  • The Lead Technician is responsible for routine and non-routine testing of materials and prototypes, contributing to produce test data and standardized reports for PSD products that meet established quality standards.
  • The Technician is responsible for preparing/modifying tests using standard and non-standard documentation with guided work protocols.
  • The incumbent will utilize the knowledge of applicable procedures, terminology, and attention to detail to process test requests.
  • The incumbent will compile and evaluate data to determine the level of quality and the maintenance of product reliability.
  • Additionally, this position supports New Product Development and Engineering work associated with product re-design and enhancements.

  • In This Function You Will
  • Performs standard and non-standard (using Non-Standard Work protocols) testing sequences from setup to completion with guidance.
  • Generates, compiles, summarizes all data, observations and conclusions for all evaluations and report out in standardized report format.
  • Performs necessary evaluations to verify accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility of the data.
  • Champions Eaton MESH Safety program for relevant disciplines.
  • Assists in the development and enforcement of safety regulations.
  • Performs routine maintenance and calibration on laboratory instrumentation and maintains all documentation.
  • Prepares/modifies test protocols using standard and non-standard lab equipment, including design and construction of test fixtures with supervision.
  • Manages lab equipment inventory, as well as test samples
  • Develops test programs and processes to improve the efficiency of routine testing.
  • Develops standard work documentation of new methods.
  • Minimal travel as needed to support off-site testing and development.
  • Demonstrates basic leadership in a technical application or assignment.
  • Follows direction of a Test Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Lead Technologist.
  • Troubleshoots minor instrumentation problems.

  • Required (Basic) Qualifications
  • Associate Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an engineering or a science discipline,
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.
  • Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Franksville, WI will be considered.
  • Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, chemistry, or physics
  • Experience working in a Materials Lab
  • Incumbent position has knowledge of laboratory and testing methodologies.
  • Must have excellent oral, interpersonal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate
  • Must have computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Office tools and utilize the computer to analyze and solve routine problems
  • Experience with standard business software: Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneNote, etc
  • Basic knowledge about Eaton Power System products
  • Dielectric and Electrical test understanding
  • Experience with testing in a lab or design/manufacturing environment Working knowledge of standard test procedures, including relevant IEEE, IEC, and ASTM standards
  • Understand manufacture process, quality tools
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
