  • Boeing in St. Louis is seeking lead Strength Engineers (Level 4) with aircraft subsystems strength analysis experience and a desire to work within the world's premier aerospace company.
  • Our Strength Engineering team in St. Louis is vital to the development of new aircraft designs in our Phantom Works research and development division and enhancing the flight readiness of fighters like the F-15 and F/18 in our Strike, Surveillance, and Mobility (SSM) division.

  • Opportunities exist to support new aircraft development programs and the F/18, F-15, T-7A, MQ-25 and other weapons programs.
  • We are seeking candidates to fill immediate positions that require experience working analysis projects, as well as future opportunities for those seeking to develop into leadership roles.
  • Position Responsibilities: expertise to the strength analysis of aircraft subsystems and associated installation designs to support flight certification.
  • Aircraft subsystems include mechanically actuated systems such as landing gear and doors, aircrew systems, electrical power and avionics equipment, secondary support structures, fuel, hydraulic, secondary power, and environmental control systems as well as other types of aircraft systems.
  • Guide design, verify mechanical/structural integrity, investigate failures, and analyze improvements.
  • Coordinate with other engineering groups throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop test plans, support execution, and analyze results to verify system and related structural components meet requirements and specifications.
  • This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Qualifications): Engineering degree and a minimum of 9-years relevant experience within the aerospace industry.
  • Engineering drawing interpretation.
  • General strength analysis methods.
  • Finite element modeling tools such as NASTRAN/PATRAN, HyperMesh
  • Durability & Damage Tolerance (D & DT) analysis using detail optimization tools such as Optistruct and Hypersizer etc.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Experience with Common Structures Workstation (CSW), Unigraphics NX or CATIA V5.
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an ABET accredited course of study in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Civil, or Mechanical engineering.
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
