- Work involves maintaining a secure and safe environment; enforcing the policies and procedures established for the Northwest Regional Juvenile Detention Center; in accordance with laws and regulations governing secure detention of juveniles demonstrating leadership by being a positive role model for youth and treating all persons with dignity and respect.
- High school diploma or its equivalent (GED), and one of the following:Two (2) years of work experience providing care, supervision or custody of children within juvenile justice, group home, shelter care or foster care environments; or work experience within the juvenile justice system, orPost high school training from a recognized college or university with several courses in social work, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field
- Possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License, private vehicle for work related travel, acceptable driving record, and provide proof of vehicle insurance $100,000/$300,000.
- Must satisfactorily complete the 160-hour Basic Juvenile Detention Officer Training and Exam within 12 months of hire in order to be eligible for continued employment, in accordance with requirements of state administrative rulesAs a condition of continued employment, will be required to complete 24 hours of annual recertification training.
- At least two (2) years of post-secondary education in a related field
