- With an aging society, obesity and diabetes on the rise, and an uptick in surgical procedures, the number of patients with non-healing wounds that would benefit from expert care is dramatically increasing.
- The Wound Care and Ostomy Nurse will primarily provide clinical evaluation and the initial plan of care for inpatient wound and ostomy services and provide nursing support to the outpatient Wound Care Center (WCC), if needed.
- The individual in this role will provide consultation, educational, knowledge, skills and support of the bedside nurse to manage patients at risk for pressure injury development, as well as patients with wounds and/or ostomies and educational services to patients and their family members to assist them in the management of their individual wound care and ostomy needs.
- The Wound Care and Ostomy Nurse will report to the Program Director of the Wound Care Center (WCC), as well as maintaining a dotted line reporting structure to the Senior Director of Inpatient Services with Healogics.
