  • Position Purpose:The primary purpose of this position to provide assistance in all aspects of dining services as directed in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • DailyAssures that safety regulations are followed and reports any accidents, hazardous equipment or conditions immediately.
  • DailyAssists in daily or scheduled cleaning duties.
  • DailySets up meal trays, dining room, and dish room, etc., as instructed.
  • Other Responsibilities:FrequencyResponsibilityAs neededAttends and participates in workshops, in-services, seminars, etc., as directed.
  • As needed and if trainedPerforms stock room functions including checking stock to ensure all items are accounted for and undamaged; notifying the supervisor if there are damaged items that need to be returned; putting stock away in the appropriate place; and cleaning duties.

  • Minimum Qualifications:Must possess, as a minimum, an 8th grade education.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language and follow written/oral instructions.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrants such action.
  • Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift (up to 25 lbs.
  • on a regular basis for serving staff and up to 50 lbs.
  • on a regular basis for dishroom staff), and push (up to 50 lbs.
  • on a regular basis for both positions), stand and move intermittently throughout the work day.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health of safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be able to maintain regular attendance.
  • Working Conditions:Works in well-lighted/ventilated areas.
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc., under all conditions/circumstances.
  • Must be willing to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.
  • May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc.
  • May be subject to cuts, bruises, falls, burns from equipment, hot foods, infectious diseases, odors, etc., throughout the work day.
  • Communicates with other department personnel.
  • May be exposed to heat/cold temperatures in kitchen/storage areas, and handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
