SUMMARY The Director of Finance and Accounting assists with the establishment and implementation of the organization's accounting policies and procedures. They will have overall responsibility for assigned accounting operations and systems as well as associated analysis and report preparation. They will oversee all accounting tasks relating to revenue, accounts payable processing, account receivable collection, audit schedules and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <ul><li>Works collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACU's mission, goals, and objectives. </li><li>Assists HACU's CFO oversee the financial operations and planning of the organization, ensuring its financial health and compliance with all regulatory requirements.</li><li>Develop and manage annual budgets in collaboration with the CFO and department heads, ensuring allocation of resources aligns with organizational goals.</li><li>Implement and maintain robust financial systems and processes to manage the organization's accounts, including receivables, payables, payroll, and reporting.</li><li>Ensures that effective finance policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place and ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting and mitigate risk.</li><li>Remain knowledgeable on matters related to compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and support the CFO in implementing any required changes.</li><li>Maintain financial records and assist with the preparation of Statement of Financial Position, including balance sheets, Statement of Financial Activity, and statements of cash flows. </li><li>Assist the CFO with the annual audit process as needed. </li><li>Supervise the finance and accounting team, providing leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities, ensuring that they are fully capable of meeting the needs of the organization.</li><li>Update and maintain all necessary business and accounting practices, policies, and procedures; improve the finance department's overall efficiency and effectiveness.</li><li>Reviews WebInvoicing to ensure general ledger expense accounts and budget codes are appropriate for the item(s) being purchased and that the budget has sufficient funds to cover the expenditure.</li><li>Collaborate with department heads to create and manage budgets, monitor spending, and identify opportunities for cost savings.</li><li>Ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately and on time.</li><li>Analyzes actual monthly revenue and expense account balances to budget amounts and investigates variances. </li><li>Responsible for review and completion of reconciliations of all general ledger accounts.</li><li>Prepares bi-weekly payroll general ledger input.</li><li>Assists in the preparation of monthly financial statements.</li><li>Assist other HACU staff in the monitoring of their actuals to budget.</li><li>Oversees that necessary information is maintained to ascertain which vendors are subject to 1099 reporting and generating 1099 forms. </li><li>Oversees American Express and PNC Visa card records and posts transactions to the general ledger.</li><li>Prepares reports required by corporate and foundational grants and contracts. </li><li>Responsible for setting up individuals in accounting software. </li><li>Fixed Asset Recordkeeping, including recording control labels.</li><li>Assist in preparation of Annual Budget and periodic forecasting.</li><li>Cross train with the Director of HNIP Finance and Accounting.</li><li>Discharge other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or senior management. </li></ul> SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESCarries out supervisory responsibilities for all personnel assigned to the HACU Finance and Accounting department. These duties are to be carried out in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable federal and state laws. Responsibilities would include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
