- The Director reports to the Dean of Students and serves as a member of the Student Life Leadership Team and the University's Care Team, among other integral groups that require a mental-health educational perspective.
- Lead evidence-based individual and group intervention through use of diagnostic evaluation, clinical observation, psychometric instruments (relevant to the professional credential), and other clinically-indicated means, and as informed by mental-health theory, cultural competencies, psychopathology, and clinical research.
- Manage caseload for students with behavioral, family, financial, academic, or other personal concerns, often in conjunction with the Dean of Students, Health Center, Residence Life, Campus Ministry, Accessibility Resources, and other units as needed, and support Title IX incident response.
- Respond to crisis situations, coordinate the Counseling Center's emergency and crisis-response procedures, participate in threat assessment activities, and coordinate the Counselor On-Call schedule.
- Provide administrative supervision, training, and evaluation for Counseling Center team (3 full-time counselors, 1 administrative support, and master's-level and undergraduate interns) that align with professional and ethical standards in higher education and the counseling profession.
