  • Job Description Summary: To plan, organize, direct and control all efforts relative to the design, definition, development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, applications, projects and programs.
  • This IT Director is responsible for providing the strategy, development and oversight of the customer experience for both our Critical Inventory Logistics customers as well as our FedEx Trade Network customers.
  • This leader will enable new digital capabilities in support of the FTN transformation, mainstreaming FTN within the enterprise.
  • They will also work closely with the FXE team in Europe to ensure one global CIL experience for our customers.
  • This position requires a leader comfortable working in a matrix organization as their team consists of team members in both FedEx Services and FTN and business partners across FXE and FTN. This Director also has Program Director responsibility for the FTN Transformation, working closely with the FTN IT Directors and the FTN Engineering team on all aspects of this significant business change (overall planning, execution, change management, release management and communication).
  • Duties/Responsibilities: This position has direct responsibility for architecting, implementing and running the customer experience and data management technology and application portfolio for CIL & FTN. Ensures the reliability, performance and integrity of all systems supporting both our internal and external customers.
  • Works closely with customers, Operations, Engineering and IT partners to deliver data-oriented solutions for our customers ensuring real-time information for planning and execution as well as predictive analytics for proactive decision making.
  • Ability to be a strong agent of change with proven ability to lead and collaborate as a trusted partner within our value delivery framework spanning across business portfolios to transform the digital landscape.
  • Well versed in modern software engineering best practices and ability to lead teams to execute on those practices.
  • Ensures effective application life cycle management of software technologies.
  • Leverages analytical skills and QDM to identify, quantify, and solve FedEx Logistics challenges by leveraging best of breed digital technologies.
  • Develops and reports on key metrics ensuring a positive customer experience.
  • Identifies and establishes collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts to effectively design, implement and deploy scalable solutions that address customer and business problems.
  • Provides leadership, direction, coaching and development of direct reports creating a high performing team and culture of open communication; promote teamwork and cooperation within team and throughout the organization.
  • Facilitates vendor management across direct technology partners.
  • This includes vendor selection, vendor relationship management and developing objectives and monitoring metrics to ensure timelines, value and quality of work.
  • Supports and advocates process improvements through QDM and the ABLE process.
  • Skills/Knowledge/Experience Considered a Plus: This position requires a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Significant related IT experience including demonstrated management experience.
  • Must possess sound business judgment and the ability to develop and execute against IT strategies.
  • The ideal candidate will have prior leadership experience in customer experience/digital technologies, data management & analytics, and customer integration technologies.
  • Strong business partner interface skills, excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential for this position.
  • Experience leading large, transformational programs.
  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or business or related field with emphasis in a quantitative discipline.
  • A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
  • Extensive experience in systems development including design, development, implementation and maintenance of large batch or online transaction based systems.
  • Experience in the majority of the following: mainframe, distributed systems, client server, relational systems, transaction and message systems, embedded systems, imaging and systems management and operation.
  • Previous management experience, strong leadership, human relations and communication skills required.
  • Domicile/Relocation: This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States.

  • Compensation: Annual Salary: $142,575 - $178,220 The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range or starting rate of candidates hired in Colorado.
