  • Job Summary: The Digital Learning Designer provides the TCU community with opportunities to learn to design and develop educational materials that enhance student learning.
  • This position will apply an expertise in instructional design combined with media production skills (e.g., video, audio, infographics, etc.)
  • in order to support faculty in their teaching.
  • This position participates as a member of the Koehler Center's training and support team.
  • Duties & Essential Job Functions: 1.
  • Collaborates with faculty to help them design media-rich, highly interactive online and in-person courses that utilize TCU's Learning Management System (Brightspace by D2L).
  • Facilitates professional learning opportunities to support faculty in developing the technical and pedagogical skills necessary to deliver quality online and in-person courses.
  • Provides training and support in the production of digital course content.
  • Provides creative, aesthetic, and operational support in the production of educational audio and video recordings: including production planning, equipment, and studio set preparation and maintenance.
  • Assists faculty in developing engaging content, appropriate assessments, and learning experiences that align with course learning outcomes.
  • Provides training and support for TCU's Learning Management System (Brightspace by D2L), and associated tools (such as Panopto, ReadSpeaker, Respondus, and Turnitin).
  • Assists with fully online and hybrid faculty certification training by working with faculty to create new courses and revise existing courses.
  • Performs regular reviews for course content quality and accessibility checks according to institutional quality, compliance, and accreditation requirements.
  • Supports faculty development initiatives by developing, implementing, and coordinating various projects and activities for the Koehler Center.
  • Creates and maintains internal documentation for the Koehler Center, as well as external content for the Koehler Center website.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Required Education & Experience: Masters' Degree in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field.
  • 5 years' teaching experience.
  • Experience facilitating professional learning.
  • Experience in Graphic Design, Video Production, or related field.
  • Experience with instructional design, including adult learning theories, learning outcomes, and assessment techniques.
  • Preferred Education & Experience: Experience in higher education, online teaching, and distance learning pedagogy.
  • Experience providing LMS support.
  • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: None Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training: Adobe products
  • Video equipment and software Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of learning and instructional design theories, and evidence-based practices relevant to courses at the college level.
  • Knowledge of creative thinking and interpersonal communication techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant course delivery platforms, and graphic design and video editing software.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and copyright issues related to instructional delivery.
  • Skill in service and mentorship.
  • Skill in facilitating professional learning.
  • Skill in writing, communication, and presentation techniques.
  • Skill in Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, HTML, CSS.
  • Skill in applications with the ability to troubleshoot software on both MAC and PC.
  • Ability to utilize strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to organize complex projects.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to plan purchasing within budgetary constraints.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, evaluate, and make recommendations to improve operations.
  • Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations): Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
  • Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
  • Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
  • Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.
  • Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
  • This role is an on campus, in-person position.
  • There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
  • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
