- Tasks may include preparing and/or drafting new patterns, selecting and preparing materials, reconstructing existing costumes, creating new costumes from scratch, fabricating costume accessories and wigs, fitting costumes and making alterations, styling hair, applying makeup, repairing and restoring costumes, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper cleaning, maintenance, and storage of costumes.
- Maintain ongoing coordination with faculty involved in productions, offering direct lab support to students engaged in production activities.
- Responsible for overseeing the costume shop, costume storage areas, and dressing rooms, including maintaining and caring for all equipment, coordinating necessary equipment repairs, and managing consumable stock and supplies.
- Minimum QualificationsEntry to the first level within this classification requires one to two years of experience working for a theater, repertory or stock company engaged in the applicable production specialty such as costume construction, stage and set construction, lighting production, and/or sound/audio production.
- Demonstrated expertise in costume construction.
