Under Armour is looking for a Chief of Staff for the Chief Merchandising Officer’s organization who can navigate our complex, high-growth, matrixed organization.
This is a critical role that blends strategic capability and facilitation and influence skills to enable the CMO to work most effectively with his team and internal and external stakeholders.
Run CMO meetings effectively (staff meetings and other business meetings) – prepare agendas, recommend participants, and provide visibility to decision and action items to drive accountability and results.
Accountable to ensure that the meeting objectives are realistic, preparation is appropriate and CMO and team are well-prepared.
Own coordination of projects and commitments involving the CMO and leadership team , including process calendaring, 3-year planning, etc.
Develop and maintain an inventory of critical path projects – help to align actions and communication to drive completion.
Ensure demands on CMO’s schedule are understood and handled appropriately.
Facilitate alignment among disparate stakeholders and recommend approaches when a lack of alignment exists.
Lead special projects initiated by the CMO, ranging from board presentations, partnering on business strategy development, etc.
Scope, plan and execute multiple, often quick-turn projects with minimal outside assistance.
Facilitate CMO communication rhythms – create an inventory of communication “events” – including town halls, speeches, board presentations, investor communications, etc.
Assist, as appropriate, with outlining, drafting and researching in support of each event.
Coordinate with others who may be involved.
Proactively identify and elevate important issues to the CMO – recommend approaches to resolve balancing the interests and needs of the team and the business.
Facilitate CMO decisions, guidance and feedback needed by the leadership team.
Build strong, trusting partnerships with stakeholders to ensure CMO and business success , including leadership team, HR, Finance, Exec Assistant, etc.
Ability to influence and negotiate and push-back when needed - at all levels.

Prior experience working for a global company with a strong brand and distinct culture

Confident – can articulate a strong point of view; Humble – knows when to flex

Highly-developed communications skills (written/verbal) and interpersonal savvy
Results/action-orientation; project management skills
Willingness to work hard and take direction—but also creatively solve problems for which the answers aren’t always obvious
Unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity, discretion and trust
Able to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
Experience working for either a start-up and/or high-growth organization is a plus
7+ years of experience
