  • JOB SUMMARYThe Charles F. and Peggy Evans Distinguished Professor of Simulation and Innovation and Emory Nursing Learning Centers (ENLC) Director of Simulation-based Learning is a faculty role responsible formaximizing the Centers performance by managing education, research, and clinical care missions and objectives and implementing organizational strategies to improve quality, teamwork, and effective academic practice.
  • This position will be responsible and accountable for the decisions associated with the Center in collaboration with the Operations Director and serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director of the ENLC.This is a three-year administrative position with re-appointment annually based upon performance appraisal completed by the Associate Dean and Vice President for Academic Practice Partnerships/ENLC Executive Director.
  • RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises, coaches, develops, mentors, and conducts performance reviews for simulation nurse educators, and future educational roles within the ENLC. Oversees simulation budgets including capital equipment in collaboration with Operations Director.
  • Provides leadership and promotes a collaborative, team-based and excellence approach to simulation education, research, and practice.
  • Collaborates with clinical team and faculty and students to ensure the highest quality simulation-based learning activities are integrated and implemented across the undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Designs, delivers, and evaluates innovative, evidence-based simulation-based learning for nursing and interprofessional experiences.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders to ensure responsiveness of training delivery, learning needs, and educational programming Coordinates and communicates with the Centers stakeholders, as well as with external agencies and professional organizations to assure the center aligns with and contributes to best practices in simulation nationally and at NHWSN - supported training, instruction, assessment, and research.
  • Establishes and oversee policies and procedures for education in the Center.
  • Assures any requirements for accreditations, certifications, credentialing, and regulations are met, documented, and distributed, as necessary.
  • Facilitates quality improvement efforts with Operations Director and nursing colleagues.
  • Leads research, new initiatives resulting in extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Reports directly to the Executive Director of the ENLC. Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean for Education, program leaders, and faculty to assure appropriate integration of simulation experiences into the curriculum.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience leading an academic practice in simulation-based learning.
  • National leader and program of scholarship in simulation-based learning.
  • Graduate degree in nursing, and terminal Doctoral degree, (PhD, EdD, DNP) required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural competencies in order to interact with a wide range of individuals, including staff at all levels, faculty and administrators.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience using quantitative and/or qualitative data to assess initiatives and inform decision-making.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse, eligible for appointment to the faculty of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in an academic simulation lab environment; Program development experience in a research-intensive environment is strongly desired.
  • Preferred experience with continuum of low fidelity to high fidelity patient simulators Demonstrated ability to work with campus partners to develop and sustain support for programmatic activities.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship building and a track record of leveraging resources to accomplish strategic goals.
  • Funded program of research in simulation, virtual reality, and/or augmented reality.
  • HOURS OF WORKThis position is exempt and is expected to be available when the simulation lab is open weekdays from 7am to 6pm.
  • TRAININGAttendance at least one training/seminar event each year in a related topic is required.
