  • The position will be a.4 position - Read to Achieve (RTA) Intervention teacher providing Reading Recovery (RR) Tier 3 Intervention and Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Tier 2.
  • Applicants must be Current Reading Recovery Trained to provide reading recovery intervention and be a primary teacher with at least 3 years of successful teaching.
  • The RTA/RR teacher may not be emergency certified or a teacher in the Kentucky Internship Program.
  • SUMMARY : Teaches all areas covered by the Kentucky Department of Education Program of Studies and the Boyle County School District Curriculum Guides.
  • In addition, this position is responsible to promote the physical, mental and social development by performing the following duties.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.
  • Employs classroom management techniques that result in an atmosphere for teaching/learning in which students can know what they are expected to do.
  • Plans lessons around the Kentucky Department of Education Program of Studies and the Boyle County School District Curriculum Guides.
  • Plans effectively with respect to establishing teaching strategies which allow the attainment, by the student, of the lesson’s behavioral objective.
  • Recognizes student differences in needs, abilities, and interests and imparts instruction so that these differences are met.
  • Carries out other professional responsibilities including punctuality, reliability, care of equipment and materials, planning, communication, confidentiality, and following district and school policies.

  • QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s degree or fifth year program with a valid teaching certificate.
  • Although prior teaching experience is not required, it is recommended.
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to use technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; enhance professional growth and productivity; communicate and collaborate with colleges, parents and the community; and conduct research/solve problems.
  • Proficiency in technology skills must be demonstrated based on the performance criteria set out in the KDE teacher standards for technology.
  • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Must hold Kentucky Professional Certificate for School Media Librarian.
