  • The admissions team is responsible for generating, processing, and reviewing more than 13,000 first-year and transfer applications and hosts over 15,000 individual visitors on campus annually.
  • In addition, the office promotes the university virtually and hosts admission events all over the world.
  • The Assistant Dean reports to an Associate Dean of Admission and, works closely with faculty, staff, current students, and alumni, participates fully in all aspects of Wesleyan's undergraduate admission operation: recruitment, selection, and yield programs.
  • The Assistant Dean serves as the University's representative for all aspects of admission operation both on and off-campus.
  • Responsibilities: Manages a strategic in-person and virtual recruitment plan, including visiting schools, community-based organizations, college fairs along with organizing and hosting recruitment events.
  • Supports Wesleyan University's commitment to the recruitment of historically underrepresented, first-generation, and low-income students.
  • Participates in rotational dean on duty responsibilities: leading hour-long information sessions and answering questions from prospective students, family members, and counselors in-person and via phone, internet, and email.
  • Participates in admission recruitment and yield efforts and other on-campus and virtual events.
  • Interviews prospective applicants and responds to specific questions regarding academics, admission, financial aid, residential life, and extracurricular activities.
  • Reviews, prepares, and presents applications as a member of the Wesleyan admission committee.
  • Establishes and cultivates relationships with students, parents, counselors, and alumni while representing Wesleyan University in professional organizations that support recruitment goals.
  • Liaises with current students and faculty.
  • Assists in the management of admission initiatives to include, but not limited to diversity outreach, communications, admission volunteers, tour guides, and yield activities.
  • Four to five weeks of fall travel and two to three of spring/summer travel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
