- The role of the Apprentice Highway Worker is to perform maintenance work on County highways and bridges, including asphalt repairs, gravel road maintenance and snow removal.
- Perform road construction and maintain highways and surrounding terrain including operation of heavy equipment, trucks, construction machinery, snow removal equipment, etc.
- Work includes but not limited to maintaining road surface, maintaining gravel, patching asphalt, mowing ditches, sweeping, clearing trees and brush from right-of-way and placing work zone traffic control signing in proper locations.
- Prepare equipment for snow removal including installing chains, changing cutting edges and/or loading trucks with sanding materials.
- Qualifications Experience and/or Education Required : One or more years of road construction/maintenance experience.
