  • As a Sommelier of Amara at Paraiso you are bestowed with the duty of upholding the standards and reputation of the wine program.
  • Your job is to sell and inspire sales.
  • You will engage with guests, divine their preferences and guide them to selections using your expertise.
  • Your knowledge will not just be wine, but over time will expand to all beverages.
  • Your knowledge of the menu will eclipse that of the most knowledgeable server.
  • You will instill this knowledge into the frontline staff, inspiring them to know and giving them the confidence to make the sale and show our guests a unique time that can only be had at Amara at Paraiso.
  • Works with team when promoting wine sales.
  • Follows and ensures that the company beverage standards of service are being adhered.
  • Helps to ensure that all wine stocks in the bars and in lockers or pantries are used, stored and accounted for following company policies and guidelines.
  • Provides prompt, attentive and courteous service to every guest whne working shifts.
  • Strives to always up-sell to better quality premium and super-premium products.
  • Places wine orders in coordination with store level sommelier.
  • Receives product and stocks in proper location or support on identified days.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining monthly wine inventory with team.
  • Weekly glassware inventory with Head Sommelier.
  • Handles updating monthly perpetual and ensures
  • Responsible for coding invoices and ensuring wine teams are uploading correctly.
  • Maintains wine menus and ensures they are free of typos and has minimal out of stock wines.
  • Including but not limited to special events, off site events, large party menus and pairings.
  • Recommends and suggests beverages when guests ask for assistance in selecting them.
  • Communicates any problems, challenges, complaints or service difficulties, in a timely manner, to the manager on duty or wine director
  • Ensures that the wine promotions are followed and in place in the assigned workstation.
  • Responsible for the proper use and maintenance of all associated equipment.
  • Ensures that company policy in regards to drinking age is followed and that the service of alcoholic beverages to obviously intoxicated guests is stopped and referred to the Manager on duty immediately.

  • At least four years of working experience as a Sommelier in a fast pace environment with working experience with an extensive wine program or five (+) years of restaurant experience with two years in management and Court of Sommelier Introductory Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of wine service procedures.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
