- The goal of the fellowship is to provide specialized training in aortic and complex/high-risk adult cardiac surgery beyond cardiothoracic surgery residency training.
- The Aortic Fellow will work at the direction of the Emory Aortic Center Medical Director and function across the Emory St. Joseph's Hospital (primary site) and Emory University Hospital campuses.
- Preoperative evaluation, operative management, and postoperative patient care of complex adult surgical conditions, including major thoracic aortic surgery and complex/high risk cardiac surgery;
- Serve as surgical first assist on complex aortic procedures under the direction of the Medical Director and other cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons;
- Train other cardiothoracic surgery residents and/or fellows on the diagnosis and treatment of complex aortic disease;
